PA11674SWL / PA11674 | Gerrit Schorel Short Wave Listener SWL

Welcome to the SWL website of PA11674SWL

PA11674

Welcome to my personal website dedicated to the hobby of Shortwave Listening (SWL). My name is Gerrit Schorel and I have been active as a listener since 2024. I operate from Dordrecht (JO21IT), in the western part of the Netherlands, under the callsign PA11674SWL. This site is a place where I share the results of my radio sessions and show what I am receiving from my home station.

PSK Reporter reception logs

This section shows the digital modes, such as FT8 or JS8Call, that have been picked up by my antenna. You can view the data on my PSK Reporter page, which provides a log of the signals received only when my station was powered on and active. I do not monitor the bands constantly, so the information reflects specific listening sessions.

New since April 2026 is a visual map on this page showing exactly which stations have been received in specific locators, giving a clear overview of the reach of my station during recent sessions.

SSTV image gallery

In this gallery, I share the images that I have managed to decode from the airwaves. This involves Slow Scan Television transmissions from other amateur stations. I do not monitor the SSTV mode constantly; I only tune into these frequencies occasionally, so the SSTV gallery is only updated when I am active with this specific mode.

Radio propagation and space weather

I include information on Radio propagation and space weather to show what is currently possible on the amateur bands. These tools help me understand which parts of the globe might be reachable and why signal strength and reception vary from day to day.

My Rig and technical setup

For those interested in the hardware I use, the My Rig section contains a simple overview of my setup. It lists the SDR receivers and antennas I use to monitor the HF spectrum and capture the data found on this website.

Did you know that…

Even if you already have an SWL callsign from a local SWL bureau, such as the Dutch VRZA or VERON (Dutch QSL Bureau), you can also register this callsign with SWARL? Simply apply for a callsign at SWARL and enter your current SWL Callsign in the "Operational Call Sign" box.... and before you know it, you’ll also be listed in the SWARL database! SWARL.org is totally free of charge!

Note especially for HAM's

Some radio amateurs have asked me to join them on QRZ.com or visit their page there. Unfortunately, QRZ.com is for radio amateurs only, and shortwave amateurs do not seem to be welcome there. Personally, I find this very unfortunate, as it widens the gap between people who are interested but are not (yet) radio amateurs and radio amateurs much more than necessary. However, HAM's can find me on qrzcq.com.
