SWARL.org offers radio amateurs and SWLs worldwide a free and user-friendly platform to register their call signs. The platform facilitates the digital management of registrations, allowing users to easily manage and verify their information. If you would like to apply for an SWL callsign, you can do so via swarl.org. You can also add an existing SWL call that you obtained through the VRZA or VERON (this can only be done after you have received a SWARL SWL callsign and then submit a change request).


Did you know that…

Even if you already have an SWL callsign from a local SWL bureau, such as the Dutch VRZA or VERON (Dutch QSL Bureau), you can also register this callsign with SWARL? Simply apply for a callsign at SWARL and enter your current SWL Callsign in the "Operational Call Sign" box.... and before you know it, you’ll also be listed in the SWARL database! SWARL.org is totally free of charge!

An SWL (Shortwave Listener) is strictly speaking a listening amateur and is only permitted to listen to the radio bands. Possessing an SWL callsign in no way confers the right to conduct radio transmissions on the amateur radio bands. Anyone who nevertheless transmits using an SWL callsign on these amateur bands violates the law, acts illegally, and exposes themselves to strict administrative and criminal enforcement by your local authority. Therefore, with an SWL registration one is by no means a radio amateur; obtaining an official, legally recognized transmitting license is strictly mandatory for that (this restriction naturally does not apply to the use of general license-free frequencies).

Would you still like to actively transmit on the amateur bands before you possess your own license? This is exclusively permitted under the direct supervision and physical guidance of a registered radio amateur or from an authorized club station, making use of their station callsign – doing so independently on the amateur bands with only your own SWL callsign is strictly forbidden.
